NYS Licensed Massage Therapist
After many years of massaging friends, family, and teammates; I decided to pursue a career in Massage Therapy to develop my talent. I received my education and Associates of Science Degree at New York College of Health Professions in Syosset, NY from 2004-2006. From there, I practiced at a private office near my home and provided in-home treatments for private clientele. After three years of working solely as a Licensed Massage Therapist, I wanted to educate myself further. I returned to school to learn more about my first passion; teaching. I attended Queens College and received my BA in Psychology. From here I stepped foot in the school system as a Teaching Assistant for both General Education and Special Needs Community. I grew fondly of my job as a Teaching Assistant for the Life-skills and 12:1:1 program and stayed with them for four years.
I completed a 136-hour Oncology Massage Program at CATA Institute after numerous encounters with friends, past clients and family members who were diagnosed with various cancer(s). Feeling helpless as they gave their most important and hardest fight in life; I sought out the program to become certified and educated on treatment protocols. I completed the NCTMB exam in August 2018 and entered a year-long internship at the world-renowned cancer-fighting hospital; Memorial Sloan Kettering.
My time at Memorial Sloan Kettering was divided amongst the main hospital inpatient floors, the Breast and Infusion Center and Out-patient appointments. I administered sessions to patients in various settings; ICU, Bone Marrow Transplant, Post-Surgery, Breast Cancer Infusion suites and outpatient. My passion is to always thrive to improve the quality of life and my gift is that I was given the tools and education to learn how to do so.
In addition to my Massage and Education background, my first and most important job is that of being a mother. ( To both my Human Daughter and my fur-sons !). We are an active family and we enjoy being outdoors at any chance we can get. I have played various sports throughout my life and continue to practice a healthy relationship with exercise and fitness. I have completed two Full Marathons, three half-marathons, various 5k's, 6 Spartan Sprints in Tuxedo and hope to soon add a Sprint Triathlon to this list! In addition, I was a Tap Dancer for 20years - and could still throw on a pair of tap shoes and enjoy a routine to this day. In June 2019 I experienced my first ever injury and tore my ACL playing soccer in the park with my Daughter. I am recently recovering from post-ACL surgery and learning to start slow to get back to where I was before. I find that all of the aforementioned traits help me fine-tune my approach to massage treatments for those active-lifestyle clients who come to me.
I am passionate about connecting and customizing every person I treat. I believe that no massage session is exactly the same. For this reason, I have continuously sought out research, various modalities, new approaches and maintained my thirst for knowledge through continuing education programs.
I am now working with a wonderful new business for expectant/new moms seeking out support for all of the various joys and challenges that motherhood brings. Please check out The Nesting Place in West Islip, NY for all of their wonderful events. I am proud to work alongside like-minded moms who seek out a judgment-free, safe-space and healing/caring environment for one another. Prenatal/Postnatal appointments are available at my shared space in Lindenhurst off of Montauk Highway. Please feel free to call/text/email to set up your first appointment/consultation.
